April 15: World Art Day, McDonald's Day

Today, on April 15, fans of various types of art around the world can join events on the occasion of World Art Day, UNN writes.

The event was launched by the United Nations in 2012 in honor of the birthday of the famous Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on April 15, 1452.

The event aims to draw people's attention to the importance of creativity and art in our lives, to engage them in familiarizing themselves with the creative heritage of talented figures.  

Today's holiday is a reminder of the importance of supporting and promoting art as a means of cultural enrichment and an important component of society and the economy.

Fast food lovers can join the celebration of McDonald's Day today.

The event is dedicated to the fact that on April 15, 1955, Ray Kroc opened the first franchise of this fast food chain in Illinois, USA.

The history of McDonald's began in 1940, when brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a restaurant in California and revolutionized the fast food industry. Ray Kroc was supplying McDonald's  with kitchen utensils and persuaded the brothers to let him open a franchise.

Today, McDonald's has about 40,000 restaurants in 120 countries, serving more than 70 million visitors every day.

Today is also the Day of Biomedical Laboratories.

Biomedical laboratories are an important part of the healthcare system and the medical research industry, so it is important to promote further investment in this area.

Biomedical laboratory workers play a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases by conducting laboratory tests, analyzing the results and providing accurate and timely information to healthcare providers.

Since 1992, various events have been held on April 15 to mark the International Day of Environmental Knowledge.

Environmental knowledge is a complex of different natural science disciplines, such as chemistry, biology, physics, etc. In addition, environmentalists must have a good command of environmental regulations, standards and laws, and know how to conduct environmental analysis and various environmental assessments.

 Even today, the victims of the most famous maritime disaster in human history are commemorated - it was on April 15, 1912, that the Titanic sank.

On the night of April 14 to 15, the Titanic collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank in less than three hours.

According to official information, about 1,500 passengers and crew members died.

For the first time, submarine expeditions were able to reach the sunken passenger liner only in 1985.

In 2009, the last of the Titanic passengers died at the age of 97. She was 2.5 months old at the time of the disaster.

According to the church calendar, today is the Feast of the Presentation of the Vyshhorod Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

According to one version, the image was painted by the evangelist Luke on a fragment of the table where the Son of God, the Virgin Mary, and the righteous Joseph were sitting at a meal.

From Constantinople, in 1131, the icon came to Russia in the hands of Prince Mstyslav and was exhibited in the Vyshhorod Convent.

Also, Orthodox Christians today honor the memory of the apostles from the 70th century Aristarchus, Trophimus, and Pudas.

All three were disciples of the apostles Peter and Paul, preachers and theologians. They were executed by order of Emperor Nero during the intensification of the persecution of Christians.

Aristarchus, Trokhym, Andrii, Oleksandr, Mstyslav, Viktor, Mariia, and Anastasiia celebrate their name days on April 15.
