A man in military uniform opened fire on people in the Ternopil region. Two people were killed, three wounded, and a 45-year-old suspect from Zhytomyr region was detained and his weapon seized.
In the village of Dobrovody in the Ternopil region, a man in military uniform opened fire. According to preliminary information, two people were killed and three others were injured. The 45-year-old man was detained and his weapon was seized. UNN reports this with reference to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Ternopil region.
"On Wednesday, August 15, at about 15:35, the special line 102 received a report that in the village of Dobrovody, Ternopil district, an unknown man dressed in military uniform fired several shots from an automatic weapon in the direction of people and fled. According to preliminary information, two people were killed, three others were injured and taken to the hospital," the statement said.
It is reported that a special police operation has been launched in the region to find the attacker.
"Law enforcement officers identified the suspect and his possible direction of travel. As a result of further coordinated actions involving officers of the KORD special forces, the man involved in the crime was detained. He was a 45-year-old resident of Zhytomyr region. The police seized his weapon," the statement said.
The police report that the circumstances of the incident are being established. The issue of registering this incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided.
