President Zelenskyy reported that from January to August 2026, Ukrainian forces liberated 745 square kilometers and 26 villages. Russian losses amounted to at least 9,550 killed and more than 6,600 wounded.

Ukrainian troops liberated 745 square kilometers of territory as part of an offensive operation in the Oleksandrivka sector from January to August 2026. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this, UNN writes.

According to him, the offensive operation was carried out by soldiers of the Air Assault Forces and other involved units.
Thanks to the active actions of our troops, it was possible to strike the occupying contingent significantly. Russian losses amounted to at least 9,550 people killed and more than 6,600 people wounded
The President also reported that Russian servicemen had been taken prisoner, noting that during the operation there was "an increase in Ukraine's prisoner exchange pool." He did not specify the number of prisoners.

Zelenskyy reported that on August 12, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybiuk, and Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Apostol briefed him on the results of the active actions and the next steps for Ukrainian troops.
