3.5 thousand people evacuated in Turkey due to forest fires

In Turkey, more than 3.5 thousand people have been evacuated due to large-scale forest fires, and 90 aircraft and almost 5 thousand rescuers have been involved in extinguishing the fire, UNN reports with reference to Anadolu.

More than 3,500 people have been evacuated in Turkey due to forest fires. According to the Turkish Disaster Management and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), 3,583 people were evacuated in five provinces of the country - Izmir, Aydın, Bolu, Muğla and Manisa - as a precautionary measure.

All relevant services are working tirelessly to localize the fires, using aircraft and ground forces to extinguish the fires in different regions of the country.

"In Izmir, Aydın, Bolu, Mugla and Manisa, 90 aircraft, 4,717 personnel and 1,218 pieces of ground equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire. As a precautionary measure, 3,583 citizens have been evacuated to safe areas," the statement said.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakly said that 69 fires have been brought under control, while six remain active.
