100 kg of gold and almost 2000 kg of silver: the state budget was replenished with precious metals from scrap metal from the Russian Federation

The recycling of destroyed military equipment produced 100 kg of gold, 1900 kg of silver and 25 kg of platinum. In 7 months of 2024, this brought in UAH 24.7 million, and another UAH 18 million is expected by the end of the year.
The sites of military equipment destroyed in the course of hostilities have accumulated 1,000 tons of scrap metal containing precious metals. The Ministry of Defense is processing it: UAH 24.7 million was received in seven months of 2024.

Defense Ministry replenishes state budget by recycling destroyed equipment

At the sites of military equipment destroyed in the course of hostilities and in designated military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 1000 tons of scrap metal containing precious metals have been accumulated.
The scrap metal contained 100 kg of gold, 1900 kg of silver and 25 kg of platinum. The Ministry of Defense processes it only through specialized private processing companies.
In the first seven months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense received UAH 24.7 million from the processing of precious metals. It is planned to receive at least UAH 18 million more by the end of the year. This was announced by Colonel Oleh Koval, Head of the Department for Alienation and Utilization of Surplus Military Property.
The proceeds from the sale of precious metals are distributed in accordance with the NBU regulations: 80% for gold and platinum metals and 50% for silver are transferred to the state budget, while the remaining 20% and 50%, respectively, remain in a special fund of the Ministry of Defense and are used to meet the needs of the Armed Forces.
