Ihor Terekhov
Mayor of Kharkiv
Ihor Oleksandrovych Terekhov is the mayor of Kharkiv (since November 11, 2021). Previously, he was elected as a deputy of the Kharkiv City Council. He was a member of the standing committee on planning, budget and finance. In the same year, he became the first deputy mayor.
He was born in 1967 in Kharkiv to a military family. He graduated from Kharkiv Institute of Civil Engineering and Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration. For most of his life, he hardly spoke Ukrainian, but after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he changed his position, stating that "our children will communicate only in Ukrainian." He holds the title of "Honored Economist of Ukraine."
