Heavy snowfalls and blizzards have caused difficult driving conditions on major highways across Latvia, with snow cover on the roads and anti-slip materials being used.

Meteorologists warn that the snowfall will continue during the day, and in the evening, if the temperature drops, the snowfall may intensify and snow cover will form.

To improve travel conditions, 36 units of service vehicles are involved in road maintenance.

Drivers are urged to plan more time for the journey, choose the appropriate speed and distance for the road surface.

Drivers who have already equipped their cars with summer tires should be especially careful.
