35-year-old boxer Paul Bamba unexpectedly died a week after winning the WBA Gold heavyweight title fight.

WBA Gold heavyweight champion Paul Bamba died at the age of 35. This was announced by the athlete's manager, singer Ne-Yo, reports UNN.

The cause of death is not reported. But the death occurred almost a week after the athlete won the championship title.

"He was a tenacious but confident boxer with relentless ambitions to achieve greatness. Above all, he was an extraordinary person who inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination," the manager wrote.

On December 21, Bamba won his first career title - the WBA Gold heavyweight title.

He won the fight against Mexican Rogelio Medina by the opponent's refusal to continue the fight after the sixth round.
