It is noted that the meeting will begin at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (5:00 PM Kyiv time). The speakers from the UN Secretariat will be the head of the Department of Political Affairs, Kayoko Goto, and the acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Indrika Ratwatte.

Ukraine submitted a request for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on July 27 due to Russian attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia is holding global food security hostage.
