Ukraine secures France's support for opening EU accession talks

The French foreign minister assured her Ukrainian counterpart, Kuleba, of support for EU unity in the negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU on the eve of an important summit.

On the eve of the summit in Brussels, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had a conversation with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna. She assured him that she would make every effort to ensure the unity of the EU in order to make a decision on the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, UNN reports.

"I spoke with Catherine Colonna to coordinate steps on the eve of the EU summit. I am grateful to France for supporting the decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU and assuring me that it will make every effort to ensure the unity of the EU to make this decision," Kuleba wrote on the X network.

Kuleba reportedthat the EU summit will be very difficult, as many discussions are expected, and not only on the Ukrainian issue. There will be five important issues concerning Ukraine at the summit, including the opening of EU membership negotiations and the launch of a financial support fund.
