Details
On April 7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan confirmed that it had received an official notification from Ankara. According to the report, the visa regime for Tajik citizens holding ordinary passports will come into effect on April 20. It is not yet clear whether Tajiks will be able to obtain a visa upon arrival in Turkey at the border or whether they will have to apply for it at the embassy.
Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry said that Ankara had not officially notified Dushanbe of its plan to cancel the visa-free regime, which had been in effect since 2018 and allowed Tajik citizens to stay in Turkey for up to 90 days without a visa.
The Foreign Ministry also stated that it could take retaliatory measures based on the principle of reciprocity, and recommended that citizens not use Turkey for transit travel.
