State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated that she condemns the impact on civilians as a result of the Russian strike on Sumy. The United States will continue to work to cease fire in order to avoid casualties.

Commenting on Russia's attack on Sumy, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said that they condemn the impact on civilians and that is why they continue to work towards a ceasefire.

She said this during a briefing, reports UNN.

Bruce was asked to react to the attack on Sumy, to which she replied: "We all condemn the impact on civilians. And that's why we continue to work towards a ceasefire, and what's happening in Saudi Arabia right now is to get that commitment and make it happen. That's why we do what we do, because such outcomes of any war are problematic and terrible, and we want to stop and turn back."

At the same time, she did not directly state that the US condemns Russia's actions and its constant shelling, in particular of the civilian population.

Addition

On Monday, March 24, as a result of a Russian missile strike on the center of Sumy, a number of apartment buildings and an educational institution were damaged.

It is known about 99 injured people: 76 adults and 23 children.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) report that the Kremlin is repeating existing narratives aimed at undermining support for Ukraine during negotiations in Riyadh, and is likely to remain uninterested in holding meaningful negotiations to end the war.
