The Office of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights discussed the need to amend the draft Labor Code being developed by the Ministry of Economy, expressing concern about potential human rights violations and the need for a substantial revision to bring it in line with European labor values and social responsibility.

Lubinets said that on March 19, a meeting of the Expert Council on Social and Economic Rights was held under his representative.
The main issue during the meeting was the discussion of the draft Labor Code of Ukraine, the main developer of which is the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
The speaker on this issue was Georgiy Sandul, Co-Chair of the Expert Council, Director of the NGO Labor Initiatives, who expressed key comments on the draft Labor Code of Ukraine. He focused on the dangers and potential risks of human rights violations if this draft is adopted
At the meeting of the Expert Council, Olena Kolobrodova, representative of the Commissioner for Social and Economic Rights, also stated that the draft Labor Code was being worked on by the Commissioner's Secretariat, and the Commissioner's position was sent to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
In conclusion, the Representative of the Ombudsperson emphasized that Ukraine needs to prepare for the post-war period now, not wait until the war is over, and this requires an appropriate legal framework
She emphasized that Ukrainian society deserves the dominance of European labor values, social peace, cohesion, and social responsibility, the realization of which is vital for Ukraine
The Expert Council decided not to support the draft Labor Code in the proposed version as one that requires significant revision and to send the comments of the Expert Council members to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine for consideration
