Eric Kripke explained the importance of character development in the fifth season of the series. The final episode will be shown in theaters using 4DX technology.

The creator of the series "The Boys," Eric Kripke, recently responded to fans complaining about too many "filler episodes" in the fifth and final season of the superhero satire from Prime Video, UNN reports, citing Variety.

"None of what happens in the last few episodes will matter if you don't develop the characters. I get a lot of pushback online, to put it mildly," Kripke said in an interview with TV Guide. "And I'm like, 'What do you expect? Do you expect massive battle scenes in every episode?'"
He continued: "At no point during the writing did I think, 'Yeah, we're doing filler episodes. So what?' We all thought at the time that we were actually revealing important character details. We have about 14 characters, maybe 15. And I owe it to all of them — in the sense that television is a character business — I owe it to all of them to reveal them and humanize them and their stories."
Kripke explained that he and his writers believe they showed several "crazy, massive things" in Season 5. However, these things aren't necessarily shocking battle scenes. They can also be "giant character movements."
"But I guess just because it's not plot, you say, 'Nothing happened!' And I'm thinking, 'Nothing happened, what?'" Kripke said. "The craziest and biggest events happened. It's not just someone shooting at someone else and yelling, 'Pew-pew-pew.' And if that's what you want, you're watching the wrong show."
The series finale of "The Boys," in addition to premiering on Amazon Prime Video, will also be shown in theaters using 4DX technology.
