State Department says the U.S. will not recognize the results of Russia's sham elections in the occupied territories

The United States condemns the fake elections held by Russia in the occupied Ukrainian territories and will never recognize their legitimacy or results, reaffirming its position that Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions and Crimea are part of sovereign Ukraine.
The United States condemns Russia's attempts to undermine Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence through sham elections held by Russia in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. This was stated at a briefing by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, UNN reports with reference to Voice of America.
"The United States will never recognize the legitimacy or results of the sham presidential election that Russia is holding on the territory of sovereign Ukraine. We recognize that Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimea are Ukraine," the official said.
