Shmyhal: the government expects an increase in the wheat harvest

The sowing campaign has already started in all regions, almost a million hectares have been sown, there are hopes for an increase in the harvest, including wheat, while work is underway to demine agricultural land. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting, writes UNN.

According to him, great attention is paid to work with agricultural land in the context of demining.

"More than 1,000 hectares of agricultural land have already been cleared at the expense of the state. This is important for sowing, for the harvest, for Ukrainian exports and our economy," the head of government stressed.

In general, according to him, more than 174,000 km² of territory have been affected by the war. "Ukraine is the most mined country in the world. Therefore, the government has identified humanitarian demining as one of the key priorities for recovery," he said.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, according to his data, they have been able to return more than 35,000 km² of our territories to safe use.

"We are not stopping there and are expanding our capabilities. We have 260 demining machines in operation. 87 mine action operators are already working. Almost 5,500 brave men and women are working to clear our land of Russian mine debris," Shmyhal said.
