Shmyhal and Borrell discussed cooperation within the European Peace Fund and the development of the Ukrainian defense industry. Ukraine expects to receive 1 million rounds of ammunition by the end of the year and is counting on support for weapons production.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with European Union High Representative Josep Borrell. The officials discussed further cooperation within the framework of the European Peace Facility (EPF) and the Ukraine Assistance Fund. The Prime Minister announced this in Telegram, UNN reports.

Shmyhal noted that Ukraine appreciates the positive assessment of its progress towards EU membership in the European Commission's report and its intention to open negotiations on clusters as soon as possible in 2025.

We also discussed our further cooperation within the framework of the European Peace Fund and the Ukraine Assistance Fund. We are grateful for the transferred ammunition and expect to receive a total of 1 million rounds of ammunition by the end of this year. We especially appreciate the security agreement with the EU signed in June and look forward to its successful implementation,

Shmyhal also emphasized that Ukraine is interested not only in developing joint production with the EU, but also in supporting the Ukrainian defense industry following the example of Denmark, when "our allies finance the production of weapons in Ukraine for the needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.

The Prime Minister thanked Borrell for his personal efforts and constant support of Ukraine during the full-scale war.
