School shooting in Zakarpattia: 15-year-old teenager notified of suspicion, prosecutor's office to request detention

In Zakarpattia, a 15-year-old teenager who carried out a shooting at an educational institution has been notified of suspicion, UNN reports with reference to the press service of the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Based on the collected evidence, the young man is charged with committing an attempted intentional unlawful killing of two or more persons. This refers to a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 15, Paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Details

According to the investigation materials, the 15-year-old teenager ordered a noise pistol, lead bullets, and blank cartridges online during February-March of this year. Subsequently, structural changes were made to the pistol and cartridges, making them suitable for killing.

On April 16, at about 9:30 a.m., the suspect brought the modified weapon to school and fired several shots from the pistol in the direction of his classmates. One of the bullets hit the shoulder of a student who was trying to escape from the classroom.

After that, the suspect fled the school and independently called law enforcement officers, reporting the incident. He was promptly detained, and the weapon was seized.

Currently, the young man is being held in a temporary detention facility, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. The prosecutor's office will petition for his detention.

As reported by the prosecutor's office, the investigation is currently ongoing, all versions of the investigation are being worked out, and the motives for the teenager's actions are being established.

We remind you that this morning, a 15-year-old student, while at an educational institution, fired several shots from a pistol, as a result of which he wounded a classmate. The victim was provided with medical assistance, there is no threat to his life and health, and the shooter, who fled after the incident, was stopped by patrol police officers within minutes.

Earlier it was reported that the shooting at a school in Zakarpattia is being investigated as a terrorist act. It was previously established that the teenager was following instructions from unknown persons from a messenger who threatened to harm his relatives.
