German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has a phone conversation with Putin for the first time since December 2022. Earlier, German Foreign Minister Burbock criticized Putin for refusing to hold peace talks on Ukraine.
For the first time in almost two years, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, according to UNN.
"... Olaf Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone for an hour on Friday afternoon," a German government source told Reuters on Friday.
The last time the leaders spoke directly was in December 2022.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said last month that Putin was unwilling to talk to Scholz about mediating peace in Ukraine and criticized him for rejecting initiatives for talks.
