An enemy missile attack, preliminary identified as a ballistic "Iskander," on Merefa in the Kharkiv region has claimed the lives of five people, with 19 more reported injured, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on Monday, UNN writes.

According to the investigation, on May 4, at approximately 09:35, the armed forces of the Russian Federation launched a missile strike on the city of Merefa in the Kharkiv district.

A hit on the road surface was recorded.

As a result of the attack, residential buildings, outbuildings, shops, service station premises, and vehicles were damaged.

"Three women and two men were killed. Another 19 people were injured or suffered an acute stress reaction," the prosecutor's office reported.

However, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, people continue to seek medical attention. According to him, four of the 18 injured are hospitalized in serious condition, another 12 people sustained moderate blast injuries, and two victims suffered an acute stress reaction. Each of them is receiving all necessary medical assistance.

"It has been preliminarily established that Russian troops used an 'Iskander' type ballistic missile," the prosecutor's office added.
