Russia launches production of tank ammunition in India

The Russian company Rosoboronexport has started production of 125 mm Mango armor-piercing tank ammunition in India, designed to fire from T-72 and T-90 tanks in service with the Indian army, as part of the expansion of Russian-Indian military cooperation.

The Russian company Rosoboronexport, which is part of the Russian state corporation Rostec, has launched the production of tank ammunition with armor-piercing sub-caliber projectiles in India. This was reported by UNN with reference to the company's statement.

Details

As explained by the Russians themselves, this  ammunition is designed to destroy armored vehicles with combined protection. The 125 mm Mango round is designed to be fired from the guns of T-72 and T-90 tanks, which are also in service with the Indian Army.

The company also announced further expansion of cooperation with India.

To ensure the highest degree of localization of the production of "Mango" shells, it is planned to launch the production of powder in India in the future

The Russian company noted that this is an important stage  of Russian-Indian cooperation that meets the requirements of the Make In India program.
