Deputy Minister of National Defense Stanisław Wziątek noted that the relevant figures are laid out in the Polish Armed Forces Development Program for 2025-2039. At the same time, he expressed confidence that the set goals would be achieved earlier than the program stipulates.
One of the main directions of the army's development will be the strengthening of the country's eastern flank. To this end, Poland will continue the formation of the 18th Mechanized Division, the modernization of the 16th Mechanized Division, and the development of the 1st Infantry Division of the Legions, which will operate primarily in the Podlaskie Voivodeship near the borders with Belarus and Russia.
In addition to increasing personnel, the Polish army plans to develop unmanned systems, cyber units, medical troops, and a new Transformation Command, which will be responsible for training military personnel and implementing innovations. According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, the size of the army increased by more than 11,000 people last year alone, and nearly 19,000 new soldiers were accepted into professional service.
