During a press conference in Karczew, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his intention to improve the country's sports infrastructure and host the Summer Olympics. He noted that it is planned to prepare the country as a venue for this sporting event by 2040 or 2044.

We have been working for many months to make this dream of the Olympics in Poland a reality. Life will show whether this is a realistic goal. We will take it seriously. A realistic prospect, taking into account the initial decisions, commitments and declarations of the International Olympic Committee,

- the Prime Minister said.

Polish Minister of Sports Slawomir Nitras assured that the country is able to allocate funds and develop the sports infrastructure sufficiently over the next 16-20 years. He added that in November he intends to present a new strategy for the development of Polish sports to prepare for the organization of the Olympic Games in Poland.

This requires infrastructure investment, but we already have a lot of it. I hope that we will spend the winter and spring of next year in a serious discussion with the sports community about how to make sure that the Games take place in Poland, are successful and become a driving force not only for sports, but for the whole of Poland, as happened with Euro 2012,

- Nitras added.
