The new Star Wars installment topped the box office in the US and Canada with a result of $102 million. This is the franchise's first feature film in seven years.

Details
The film became the first feature-length "Star Wars" movie in seven years. Although the result exceeded the forecasts of Boxoffice Pro analysts, who expected around $100 million, it is one of the most modest starts for the franchise since Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film continues the story of bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and Grogu, known to audiences as Baby Yoda. The film became the first "Star Wars" project shot entirely in California, where the production received $22 million in tax incentives.
Critics divided in assessments of the new film
Early reviews for "The Mandalorian & Grogu" turned out to be mixed. Some critics stated that the film lacks scale and plot depth, while others called it "purely entertaining" cinema. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film received a 63% approval rating from critics and 89% from audiences.
According to Favreau, the creators aimed to make the film as cinematic as possible – with action scenes in the style of "John Wick" and "Jason Bourne," large-scale visual effects, and adaptation for the IMAX format. The film became part of Hollywood's major summer season, which will also include new films from the "Toy Story," "Spider-Man," and "Minions" franchises, among other major releases.
