National Military Memorial Cemetery: how and when to apply for burial
Kyiv • UNN
The National Military Memorial Cemetery is not yet accepting applications for the burial or reburial of fallen soldiers. Preparations for the construction are underway, and a website with an application form is in the process of being created.
The National Military Memorial Cemetery is not yet accepting applications for the burial or reburial of fallen soldiers, and there is no queue. The NMC told a UNN journalist how to apply for burial and when it will be possible.
"As of now, we are not accepting applications for burial and reburial yet, and there is no queue for burial. Preparatory work for the construction of the first stage of the National Military Memorial Cemetery is underway," the NMCC said.
They note that the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the State Enterprise "NVMK" will immediately inform about the possibility of burying defenders and forming a queue as soon as it becomes possible.
"As of now, we are collecting the contacts of those who have already applied for such clarifications in order to communicate with them as soon as possible. We plan to allow the families or representatives of the fallen (deceased) servicemen to apply for burial at the NECC through the website," the NECC added.
It is noted that the site is currently under construction. It will contain information about the fallen soldiers, their personal stories and media materials. The site will also feature interactive maps of burial sites with details about each deceased. The materials posted on the site will also be informational and educational in nature: it will be possible to download methodological and educational materials, instructions, and recommendations for commemorating the victims for different regions. It will be possible to get clarification on the military burial ritual, reburial procedure and measures related to the preservation and commemoration of the memory of the Defenders.
"The site will also provide information about fellow soldiers or about relatives, friends and strangers and honor their memory (the site will be secure, inclusive, etc.)," they added.
Recall
The Verkhovna Rada passed draft law No. 11271, which approved an updated procedure for military burial rituals at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
