Moldovan Parliament approves declaration of support for EU accession

The Moldovan parliament approved the Declaration on the country's European integration, calling EU accession a national priority and emphasizing the benefits it will bring in terms of sovereignty, democracy, economic development and social policy.
On Friday, March 21, members of the Moldovan parliament approved the Declaration on the country's European integration. This was reported by UNN with reference to Moldpres.
Details
It is noted that 54 MPs voted for the draft Declaration. According to the document, "the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU will ensure the future of the country as a sovereign, neutral, integral and democratic state, and the irreversible path of European integration and accession is a project of the national priority of the Republic of Moldova.
The MPs called on the entire society, including all political forces, to show unity and solidarity for political consolidation and accession to the EU.
The draft Declaration emphasizes that "European integration will promote civic cohesion, ensure the Republic of Moldova's transition to sustainable economic development, and increase the state's capacity to promote effective social policy.
The European Union is a territory of peace. It was created as a project of peace that ended the wars in Europe, and its creative energy was no longer directed towards destruction and aggression, but towards prosperity and peaceful development between nations

The project also emphasizes that the EU has been a reliable partner for Moldova for years, providing logistical and financial support to solve Moldova's numerous internal problems.
In addition, thanks to generous support from the EU and other member states, Moldova has overcome the crisis caused by the COVID pandemic, as well as the energy crisis of the winter of 2022-2023.
It is noted that Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the European Union in 2014. Subsequently , on March 3, 2022, the Moldovan authorities signed an application for accession to the EU, and the European Union granted Moldova candidate country status on June 23, 2022.
Eventually on December 14, 2023, the European Council decided to start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the EU.
