The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has appealed to the authorities in Rome to cancel the performances of Russian singer Anna Netrebko. ICIP emphasizes that Netrebko supports the Putin regime and the annexation of Crimea.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has appealed to the mayor of Rome and the head of the Rome Opera House to cancel the performances of Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko at the Rome Opera House, who publicly supports the Putin regime and the annexation of Crimea, UNN reports with reference to ICIP.

"The aggressor uses art as a method to justify numerous war crimes, including the killing of Ukrainian civilians, massive and targeted attacks on residential buildings, infrastructure, institutions and cultural monuments. Collaboration with artists who carry hostile narratives is unacceptable! Representatives of the aggressor country's culture have no place on the world's leading stages. Attempts to assist Russia in spreading imperial narratives are an attempt to level the horrors of war by legitimizing Russian crimes in Ukraine," the statement reads.

The ICIP emphasizes that Ukraine highly appreciates the support that Italy has been providing to our country since the first days of the full-scale war at all levels - from the state to the local and civil society. And they are convinced that the planned performances of the Russian singer are an unfortunate misunderstanding.

Anna Netrebko, who publicly supports Putin's regime and the annexation of Crimea, is a carrier of Russian imperial ideology and an accomplice in Russia's crimes. The international community should not allow Russian propaganda to spread its influence on citizens of civilized societies that do not accept any manifestations of aggression.
