Two female migrants from Sudan died during an attempt to cross the English Channel. Seven others have been hospitalized, three of whom are in critical condition.

According to the French charity Utopia 56, the deceased include a 16-year-old girl and a woman in her 20s. Local authorities noted that both were likely of Sudanese origin.
According to Christophe Marx, Secretary General of the Pas-de-Calais prefecture, the boat carrying approximately 82 people set off on Sunday night from Hardelot beach, but the engine failed to start, after which the vessel began to drift.

Condition of the victims
Three other passengers are in critical condition. In total, seven people were hospitalized, including a pregnant woman in serious condition.

According to authorities, 17 people were rescued at sea and taken to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. After that, the boat ran aground while about 65 people remained on board.

The French coast guard also rescued 106 people after another boat broke down. They were taken to Calais.
