Dangerous route
The route between North Africa and Spain remains one of the most dangerous for migrants trying to reach Europe. Such journeys are often made on overcrowded and unseaworthy vessels.
Somalis are increasingly choosing this path due to instability in the country, economic difficulties, and prolonged drought.
Tragedies on this route occur regularly, claiming thousands of lives every year.
