Man arrested in Arizona for allegedly threatening Trump

Ronald Sivrud, a 66-year-old American, was arrested after he was actively sought by Arizona authorities for threatening Donald Trump on social media.

After several hours of searching, authorities in Arizona, a state in the southern United States, arrested Ronald Seawood, a 66-year-old man accused of making death threats against Donald Trump in several messages posted on social media, on Thursday, August 22.

According to law enforcement, another threatening post against Trump was published on Wednesday. The sheriff's office said that “identifying this individual was a priority” given Trump's visit to the area.

Sivrud was “taken into custody without incident” on two counts of threats related to social media posts, the sheriff's office said.

The 66-year-old man was wanted on several warrants, including charges of drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to register as a sex offender, the sheriff's press release on Facebook said.

Trump reacts to the manhunt in Arizona for a suspect accused of making death threats.

“I haven't heard about it. They probably want to keep it from me,” Trump said when asked to respond to the wanted list. “Thank you for telling me. Let's get out of here, right now,” Trump joked.

Threats to Trump

The threat to former President Trump's life arose after an attempt to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month.

The former president held his first public rally Wednesday since the assassination attempt, speaking behind a wall of bulletproof glass at a podium in Asheboro, North Carolina.
