Elton John and Madonna reconciled after years of feuding. The stars met backstage at SNL, where Elton apologized and Madonna recalled how his performance in her youth changed her life.

The long-standing feud between Elton John and Madonna is officially over. On Monday, the pop star shared that they have "finally buried the hatchet" of their years-long animosity after she weighed in to meet her fiercest critic backstage at Saturday Night Live.
This was reported by Rollingstone, writes UNN.
For decades, it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much publicly expressed his dislike for me as an artist. I didn't understand it. I was told that Elton John was a musical guest on SNL and I decided to go. I needed to go backstage and meet him face to face. When I met him, the first thing he said was: "I'm sorry," and the wall between us fell down

Forgiveness is a powerful tool. In a matter of minutes. We hugged. And then he told me he wrote a song for me and wanted to collaborate. It seems the period of animosity has come to an end!
In the comments section of the post, John thanked Madonna for "forgiving him and his long tongue," noting that he is not proud of what he has said about her in the past.
Especially when I think about all the groundbreaking work you've done as an artist - paving the way for an entire generation of artists to succeed and be true to themselves. You were also one of the first people to speak out against HIV/AIDS in the 80s, giving love and compassion to many who desperately needed it
- "I am grateful that we can move forward. I am increasingly saddened by the divisions in our world at the moment. Both you and I have been sincerely accepted and supported by communities at risk around the world."

I hope that by joining forces, we can do great things for those who really need support. And we'll have a lot of fun doing it!
Madonna also shared a story in her post about how she once snuck out of her house to see John perform in Detroit, calling it "unforgettable."
His performance, which I saw while still in high school, changed the course of my life. I always felt like an outsider growing up. Watching him on stage, I realized that it's okay to be different, to stand out, to go your own way. In fact, it was important
Elton John reposted Madonna's Instagram post, simply captioning it: "A moment of healing."
