The President of Belarus has signed a decree pardoning 30 prisoners convicted of protest actions. Among those pardoned were 14 women, 16 men, people with illnesses and pensioners who had admitted their guilt and repented.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree pardoning 30 political prisoners. This was reported by UNN with reference to Lukashenka's administration.

The presidential administration of Belarus does not specify who exactly these prisoners are, but emphasizes that they are convicted of protest crimes.

Among those pardoned are 14 women and 16 men, some of whom have serious illnesses. There are also people of retirement age among them.

All of them pleaded guilty, sincerely repented of their actions and pledged to lead a law-abiding life. On behalf of the President, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will ensure control over the fulfillment of such obligations.
