It is noted that the fire broke out around midnight at a substation in the Haynes area, about 2 kilometers from the airport. Crews from the London Fire Brigade arrived at the scene.
The incident caused power outages in the area, affecting the airport. About 150 people were evacuated and a 200-meter security zone was established.
Meanwhile, in an official statement, the airport administration announced that the closure of Heathrow will last until the end of the day and urged passengers not to come to the airport under any circumstances.
"We do not have clear information when the power supply will be stably restored. To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we are forced to close Heathrow until the end of the day," the statement said.
