Lithuania extends temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until 2026

The Lithuanian government has decided to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees for another year, until March 4, 2026. Every day, 30-40 new applications are registered, and about 44 thousand people have a valid residence permit.
On Wednesday, August 21, the Lithuanian government decided to extend the temporary protection granted to Ukrainian military refugees for another year. This was reported by UNN with reference to Delfi.
Residence permits issued until now were valid until March 4, 2025.
The government has extended the temporary protection until March 4, 2026.
As stated in the draft government resolution, the Migration Department registers about 30-40 new applications for a temporary residence permit in Lithuania every day.
As of the end of July this year, approximately 44 thousand people had a valid residence permit on the basis of temporary protection.
