Large-scale fire in Zakarpattia continues to rage – the blaze has already engulfed 75 hectares, aerial firefighting is underway

In the Zakarpattia region, the elimination of a large forest fire in the Kilytsia tract in the Mukachevo district continues, the area of which has reached about 75 hectares. This was reported by the State Emergency Service in the Zakarpattia region, UNN reports.

As of 21:10, a fire elimination headquarters has been deployed at the scene, involving employees of the forestry department of the Carpathian Forest Office. A total of 250 people and 24 units of equipment, as well as State Emergency Service aviation, are involved in extinguishing the fire.

At 18:56, the first water drop was made from an aircraft, which became a key stage in containing the spread of the flames.

From the State Emergency Service of Zakarpattia, 65 rescuers and 16 units of equipment from the units of the 2nd and 3rd state fire and rescue detachments are working.

We are also responding to challenges unrelated to the war: dozens of State Emergency Service employees are fighting a large-scale forest fire in Zakarpattia. Today we deployed a firefighting aircraft; tomorrow, a combined detachment from the Zakarpattia, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions will join the firefighting efforts

Foresters and local residents joined the fire elimination

In addition to the rescuers, 86 employees of the Carpathian branch of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" are working on-site with 6 units of equipment, including 4 fire modules.

Also, 98 local residents joined the fight against the fire, assisting in the elimination along with equipment, including a bulldozer.

The elimination of the fire is ongoing.
