A new checkpoint for passenger cars with Romania is being prepared to open in Transcarpathia

In Transcarpathia, preparations for the opening of the "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației" checkpoint are being completed. At the first stage, it will operate around the clock for passenger cars, allowing up to 600 vehicles per day.
In Transcarpathia, preparations are being completed for the opening of a new international automobile checkpoint "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației" on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. In the first phase, it will operate for passenger cars and is expected to reduce the load on existing checkpoints. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Recovery Agency.
The agency noted that the minimum necessary infrastructure has already been created for the launch of the checkpoint. At the initial stage, vehicle processing will be carried out using temporary modular structures, which will allow the passage of passenger cars to begin even before the full construction is completed.
What has already been done
According to the Recovery Agency, the facility has already been equipped with access roads, traffic lanes and control zones, the bank of the Tisza River has been reinforced, electricity and water supply, telecommunications have been provided, and infrastructure for the work of border and customs services has been created.
"In the first phase, the checkpoint will operate around the clock for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tons, and its capacity will be up to 600 vehicles per day," the statement said.
Later, buses and trucks will be processed
After the completion of construction, buses and freight transport will also be able to cross the border through the checkpoint.
Currently, final technical works are underway, including the installation of service modules, video surveillance systems, arrangement of inspection areas and landscaping of the territory. After their completion, the facility's readiness for opening will be officially confirmed.
The Recovery Agency recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has already opened four new international checkpoints: "Diakivtsi – Rakovets" and "Krasnoilsk – Vicovu de Sus" on the border with Romania, "Nyzhankovychi – Malhowice" with Poland, and "Velyka Palad – Nagygódos" with Hungary.
