Near Lefkada, Greek sappers destroyed a sea drone containing 100 kg of explosives and Ukrainian markings. Investigators are examining a theory regarding an attack on Russian vessels.
Greek sappers carried out a controlled explosion of a sea drone carrying explosives, which fishermen discovered in the Ionian Sea near the island of Lefkada. This was reported by the BBC, according to UNN.

According to Greek authorities, the drone was found in a cave off the country's west coast with its engine running. Specialists removed the detonators and the battery, after which the drone was detonated at sea near Astakos.
Greek and Ukrainian media suggest that the device in question is a Ukrainian-made "Magura" maritime drone. It is estimated that there were about 100 kilograms of explosives on board.
The Ukrainian side has not officially commented on the situation.
Greece investigates the origin of the drone
Greek authorities are currently investigating how the drone ended up in the country's territorial waters and what its purpose might have been. According to Greek media, handwritten notes in Ukrainian were found on board. It is also reported that the drone had a GPS system, the operation of which could have been disrupted by bad weather.
The newspaper Ta Nea writes that investigators are considering several versions: the drone could have fallen into the sea during transportation or lost contact with the operator during a possible attack on Russian vessels in the Mediterranean Sea.
The incident has sparked a discussion regarding Greece's maritime security and the country's readiness for new types of threats.
