The court sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for trying to transfer intelligence about the SBU and the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Russian Embassy in Hungary. The convict planned to get a job in the FSB of the Russian Federation and personal enrichment.
A resident of the Kiev region was sentenced to 15 years in prison for trying to transfer the collected data on the personnel of the SBU and the armed forces of Ukraine to the Russians in exchange for employment in the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the Office of the prosecutor general, writes UNN.
According to the public prosecution of prosecutors of the Office of the prosecutor general and the Beregovo District Prosecutor's office of the Transcarpathian region, the man was found guilty of attempted high treason under martial law (Part 3 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). It is noted that prosecutors in court proved that during 2022, a resident of the Kiev region recruited citizens to collect and transmit data on the personnel of the SBU, the armed forces of Ukraine, as well as other information of interest to the intelligence and subversive activities of the FSB of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine.
Later, the convict, with the intelligence obtained by him and his agents, tried to cross the state border of Ukraine with the Republic of Hungary. There, he planned to transfer the information received to employees of the Russian Embassy in exchange for personal enrichment and employment assistance to the FSB of the Russian Federation.
Based on the collected evidence base and convincing arguments of the prosecution, the man was given a real prison term. The convict waited in custody for the verdict of the court.
