The suspects' homes were searched. The arrests reportedly took place on the island of Mallorca, as well as in the cities of Huelva and Seville in the south of the country.

Spanish law enforcement officials claim that the hackers were involved in denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on government agencies, critical infrastructure and services of those countries “that took a pro-Ukrainian position in the context of the war.

The Civil Guard also said in a statement that the arrested may be linked to the pro-Russian hacker group NoName057 (16), which emerged after Russia's war against Ukraine began.

“In its founding manifesto, the group recognizes that it will “respond proportionately to the hostile and openly anti-Russian actions of Western Russophobes,” Spanish security forces say.
