Germany to buy new weapons worth 20 billion euros: Taurus is on the table

The German Ministry of Defense has approved a large-scale program for the purchase of military equipment worth 20 billion euros. It is planned to modernize the Taurus, purchase submarines, Aegis systems, Patriot missiles and other weapons.

The German Ministry of Defense has approved a large-scale purchase of new equipment for the army worth 20 billion euros. These funds will be used to modernize Taurus missiles, purchase submarines, Aegis systems, and Patriot missiles. This was reported by BILD, according to UNN. 

BILD has disclosed some cost items:

- Modernized Taurus cruise missiles. The missiles already in service will be repaired. For example, they will have their O-rings replaced.

- Four new 212CD submarines, which are significantly larger than the 212A model, as well as four new 212CD submarines worth almost 5 billion euros.

- Aegis combat  systems for the F127 frigates under development - a contribution to air defense.

-Five Euro-Puls rocket and artillery systems. It is noted that their German-Israeli counterpart has been in service with Israel for several years.

- 128 PAC-3 MSE missiles for Patriot systems and ESSM anti-aircraft guided missiles.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that recent comments by US President-elect Donald Trump on the war in Ukraine reinforced his own steadfast refusal to supply Kyiv with Taurus long-range cruise missiles.
