False information is spreading online about an alleged outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Zhytomyr region at the "Rykhalske" State Enterprise. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, according to UNN.

Details

Russian propaganda resources claim that the Ukrainian authorities are allegedly hiding an epidemic, and children are being hospitalized with "poisoning," while contaminated products are reaching store shelves.

The CCD emphasizes that this information is untrue.

The death of cattle occurred due to improper housing conditions and starvation, not due to infectious diseases

- the center noted.

An investigation is already underway regarding this fact — the specialized environmental prosecutor's office has opened proceedings concerning animal cruelty.

The Center emphasized that Ukraine officially maintains the status of a country free from foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination.

At the same time, according to the CCD, increased risks of the spread of this disease are currently being recorded specifically in Russia.

The goal of this disinformation is to provoke panic among the population, discredit state regulatory bodies, and strike a blow to the export potential of Ukrainian agricultural products

- the Center for Countering Disinformation stressed.
