Britain and France will present Trump with a force plan for Ukraine, hoping to convince the United States to provide security guarantees to Kyiv. Military leaders are working out the details of the European coalition.

The UK and France plan to present Donald Trump with a comprehensive plan for post-war "assurance forces" in Ukraine, which they hope will convince the US President to commit to security guarantees for Kyiv. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to people familiar with the matter, reports UNN.

According to media reports, military leaders intend to work out the details over the next two weeks of how the European-led "coalition of the willing" will help ensure the security of Ukraine's airspace, coast and land, as well as the revival of its forces, British Defense Secretary John Healey and his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu said on Friday.
They hope this will demonstrate the seriousness of Europe's intentions to invest its own resources in Ukraine's post-war future and convince the US president to provide "support" in the form of air power, border surveillance and intelligence, people who declined to be named said on condition of anonymity.
The 30 members of the coalition, which also includes non-European countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan and New Zealand, have been asked to respond in writing by the end of next week to questions about what they are willing to contribute, Lecornu said.
Fifteen of them have already offered forces, including aircraft, naval vessels and other military equipment, although the countries that have made a firm commitment to send troops are still represented by single-digit numbers, people said.
"For the US to really be involved in this, they need to see that we are doing a lot," Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene told reporters at NATO headquarters on Friday. "One of the most important roles for the US is to monitor the ceasefire."

Trump has resisted providing security guarantees to Kyiv since the plan to create a European-led force was first unveiled two months ago. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told allies on Friday that while he welcomes Europe's increased support for Ukraine, the Trump administration's position remains the same, people say.

Nevertheless, some officials believe that the US approach to Moscow is hardening after a lack of progress on a ceasefire. Trump demonstrated growing frustration with Vladimir Putin, writing in a post on his social network that "Russia must start acting" and lamenting the number of deaths. According to the Kremlin, US Special Representative Steve Vitkoff was scheduled to meet with Putin in Moscow on Friday.
