The Head of State congratulated Shigeru Ishiba on his election as Prime Minister and thanked Japan for all the humanitarian and financial assistance provided to Ukraine in the total amount of USD 12 billion. The President also noted the decision of the Japanese government to transfer another USD 3 billion secured by frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also welcomed the additional assistance for energy equipment and the construction of shelters approved by the Japanese Parliament.

The Head of State said that on Christmas night, Russia had massively shelled Ukraine's energy infrastructure. That is why the protection and restoration of energy is a priority in the face of the aggressor state's attempts to leave Ukrainians without heat and light in winter. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Shigeru Ishiba condemned the DPRK's participation in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
