On April 4, a married couple aged 53 and 51 were killed and two civilians aged 77 and 74 were wounded in the Russian artillery shelling of the village of New York in Donetsk region and hospitalized.

The occupiers' shells hit the territory of the private sector, killing a couple - a 53-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman. Their 77-year-old relative was also in the garden with them and was injured. In addition, a 74-year-old local resident was injured in the attack. Both victims were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds.

According to the investigation, the occupation forces of the Russian Federation attacked the village of New York, Bakhmut district, on April 4, 2024, at 17:00. Probably, they were aiming for artillery.
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding over violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
