Details
According to the SBI, the cost of the bags was UAH 30 million. However, the examination found non-compliance with the technical requirements, which did not allow the bags to be used for their intended purpose.
In particular, according to the expert opinion, the composition of the fabric did not meet the stated requirements, and the sleeping bags also lacked mandatory elements: a fleece lining and a layer of special fabric that does not allow air to pass through.
The director of the company was served with a notice of suspicion of fraud committed on a large scale (part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
The military unit filed a lawsuit for reimbursement of penalties in the amount of UAH 6 million and replacement of sleeping bags with high-quality ones, which was fully satisfied.
The investigation is ongoing. The circumstances of possible involvement of the military unit officials in the criminal offense are being investigated.
