Coachella called "worse than Fyre Festival" after 12-hour wait in queues

Coachella visitors complain about long lines and lack of amenities at the California festival in the United States, calling it "worse than Fyre Festival," UNN writes, citing The Independent.

Details

The Coachella Festival opened on Friday, April 11, in Indio, California, with a performance by Lady Gaga. The program also includes performances by Green Day, Travis Scott and Post Malone.

Fans began arriving at the festival campgrounds the day before in hopes of avoiding the crowd, but instead found themselves in 12-hour lines to get into the festival.

On X/Twitter, one user posted a photo of a field full of cars lined up trying to get to the festival with the caption: "Coachella is descending into chaos and the festival hasn't even started yet. These are cars lined up to go through security and get to the campground. Attendees report 12-hour waits and no porta-potties, with some saying it's "worse than the Fyre Festival."

Other participants also drew comparisons to the infamous failed 2017 festival in the Bahamas.

Festival visitor Adam Roberts told Business Insider: "I joked earlier that I didn't know Fyre Festival tickets were included in the ticket price this year, but honestly, I think so. I feel cheated."

Delays on the way to the festival site were exacerbated by extreme heat and lack of toilets.

"It's in the middle of the desert; there are no bushes to hide behind," Kayla Standring told Business Insider. "I had to open both car doors to block myself, and then the girls in the car behind us saw and started doing it. I started a revolution for women."

Festival visitors usually paid at least $649 for a ticket.

Lady Gaga headlined Friday at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. She performed at the festival for the first time since her debut at the event in 2017, when she famously replaced a then-pregnant Beyoncé as headliner.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is the most important American music festival of the year. Taking place over two weekends (April 11-13 and 18-20) at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, it returns this year with headliners Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott; Charli XCX, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Kraftwerk, Mustard, Tyla, Japanese Breakfast, Arca, and many, many more are also on the lineup.

Those who do not attend the festival in person can watch the performances on the Coachella channel on YouTube or through the new Coachella Livestream app.
