China has ordered companies to ignore US sanctions against five refineries for trading with Iran. Beijing called these restrictions illegal and a violation of the norms of law.
China has ordered companies in the country not to comply with US sanctions against five domestic oil refineries linked to the Iranian oil trade, UNN reports, citing Bloomberg.

These refineries—including Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) Refinery Co., which was sanctioned last month, and several other private enterprises—faced asset freezes and transaction bans.
The US measures "illegally" restrict normal trade with third countries and violate international norms, China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement released Saturday. In a rare move, the ministry issued an order prohibiting the recognition, implementation, and compliance with sanctions against the five companies.
"The Chinese government consistently opposes unilateral sanctions that are not authorized by the United Nations and have no basis in international law," the ministry's statement said.
