Cannes Film Festival unveils its competition program, including a russian film

The Cannes Film Festival has announced its competition program, which includes a film by russian filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov and a special screening of Sergei Loznitsa's film about the russian invasion of Ukraine.
russian director Kirill Serebrennikov's film Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie" will compete for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The film by Serhiy Loznitsa, who considers himself a Ukrainian, will also be screened, but it will not participate in the competition. This year's Cannes Film Festival, which will run from May 15 to 25, has published its program of films.
The festival will be opened by Quentin Dupieux's French comedy Le Deuxième Acte, starring Lea Seydoux. This film does not participate in the main competition program of the festival.
Among the films that will compete for the main award:
- "Megalopolis by American director Francis Ford Coppola;
- "The Apprentice by the American Ali Abbasi;
- "Kinds Of Kindness by British director Yorgos Lanthimos;
- "The Shroud by David Cronenberg from France;
- "Parthenope by Italian Paolo Sorrentino.
The main competition program includes the film by russian director Kirill Serebrennikov "Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie". The film tells the story of eduard limonov, a russian writer, a representative of the national bolsheviks, known for his Ukrainophobic views. In particular, he agitated for the return of Crimea to russia, which put him on the Ukrainian non-grata list.
The program of special screenings will include the premiere of The Invasion, a film about the russian invasion of Ukraine by Serhiy Loznitsa, who calls himself a Ukrainian director.
