Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune, is in talks to adapt Annie Jacobsen's Pulitzer Prize-nominated book Nuclear War: A Screenplay, which he plans to produce and direct.

After the great success of Dune: Part Two, director Denis Villeneuve is preparing his next project. Negotiations are reported to be underway for a film adaptation of Annie Jacobsen's Pulitzer Prize-nominated book Nuclear War: A Screenplay. Jacobsen's nonfiction book explores the possibility of nuclear war through interviews with military experts and civilians who have created nuclear weapons. It is now known that the rights to the feature film have been acquired. Villeneuve continues negotiations and is preparing to produce and direct the film.
