Britain may send military to train Ukrainian Armed Forces: what is known

The UK is considering sending British troops to Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers, the BBC reports, UNN reports. 

British Defense Secretary John Healey visited Kyiv the day before to discuss further assistance to Ukraine next year and joint plans.  However, he refused  to provide details of these plans. 

“The details of our joint Ukrainian plan must remain, let's say, inaccessible to (Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin,” the British defense minister said.

According to BBC sources,  it is possible that the British military will be sent to Ukraine to help train Ukrainian soldiers. 

Until now, the training of the Ukrainian military has taken place in Britain. There is also a small group of British medics who conduct training in Ukraine.

The British Defense Secretary brought to Kyiv a promise to provide an additional $286 million in military aid to increase the number of drones, artillery ammunition, and air defense.

At the same time, during his visit, they also discussed ways to strengthen Ukraine's position next year, the BBC reports. According to John Healy, this requires more weapons, more training and more sanctions against Russia.

Sweden does not rule out the possibility of deploying its troops to Ukraine to strengthen the country's defense capabilities. 

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has indicated that Berlinis likely to play a role in ensuring the ceasefire, but it is too early to say what kind of forces will be needed.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced positive developments in discussions about the possibility of deploying a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine. According to him, this issue was raised during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
